– Lay’s

The formation of Lay’s

Herman Lay introduced Lay’s to the world and his efforts still shine till today. In 1932, He opened a small snack food company in Nashville, Tennessee. Shortly after, he purchased the Georgia based potato chip company – ‘Barrett Food Company’ in 1938. The name of this company was changed to ‘H.W Lay Lingo & Company’ and Lay covered the U.S selling the chips products from the trunk of his car. In 1944, the name of the company was shortened to ‘Lay’s Lay Lingo Company’ and they became the first snack food company to purchase television commercials.

At times you must have heard ‘Frito-Lay’ instead of Lay’s, right? Well in 1961, the Frito company merged with Lay’s and thus was formed – Frito-Lay Inc. For the next 5 years, they started accessing the international markets and eventually their sales increased enormously. In 1965, Frito-Lay merged with Pepsi-Cola to form PepsiCo. and since then the company has found various ways to keep their chips fresh and increase their shelf life. Lay’s has introduced various flavours under the guidance of PepsiCo. and still continues to do so.

The unexpected product – Lay’s Potato Vodka

This product that took everyone by surprise, is a limited-edition vodka by Lay’s in partnership with Eastside Distilling. This vodka is only being sold through Eastside Distilling’s website and has gathered a huge fan following already. This new product went out of stock on the same day of its release.

At Lay’s, we’re always looking for new and innovative ways to bring joy and fun to our fans. This launch comes just in time for the holidays so our fans who are 21 years old and over can enjoy Lay’s in an exciting, brand-new way at their get-togethers or can gift Lay’s Vodka to the Lay’s fan in their lives. And you never know what future plans we have up our sleeves! We love to keep our fans guessing as to what is coming next.”
