Rhubarb And Heather Gin Liqueur Makes A Debut

“ISLAND BORN, FEARLESS SPIRIT.”

By Isle of Barra Distillers Co.

Isle of Barra Distillers Co. recently announced their latest gin- Rhubarb and Heather Gin Liqueur. The latest edition is the distillery’s 2021 limited batch release and is the first release since the launch of the award-winning Barra Atlantic Gin in August 2017. The small business entrepreneurs have hand-crafted the gin with love; a symbol of closeness to their hearts, home and the local community.

The signature ingredient (organic sweet Rhubarb) for the new release has been sourced from Garadh a’ Bhagh a’ Tuath, which is a local charitable organisation on the volcanic island. Team Isle Barra distillers worked hard to perfect the flavour profile of the gin by combining local organic ingredients like organic sweet Rhubarb, wild heather, etc. The flavour infuses island essence with a twist of refreshing sweetness to display a burst of amazing taste for the taste buds at 20% ABV. The gin liqueur portrays a packed flavour of rhubarb, a spice of ginger and a hint of lemongrass.

The distillers’ co. recommends drinking the refreshing gin both neat or combines into a cocktail. Serve it neat over ice or to give a delicious depth of flavour to your G&T, add a 15ml measure into your Barra Atlantic Gin & Tonic!

The distillery created bespoke, fully recyclable packaging with biodegradable labels to reflect its approach to sustainability. They have also curated the ‘SOW – GROW – EAT’ idea with every purchase. They have gifted a packet of rhubarb seeds with every purchase of the liqueur. The initiate allows the customers to grow their rhubarb at home while drinking the refreshing gin. A positive step towards Green Earth.

The 50cl Rhubarb and Heather Gin Liqueur is available for purchase for £22.00 (29.4$) on the official website. You can avail of free shipping for the purchase till 8th of December. All UK deliveries are sent by courier (Royal Mail 48h Signed For). All International deliveries are sent by courier (DHL Express). The couriers cannot be sent to Austria, Australia, Canada, France, Sweden or the USA and the team is working on the service.

The distillery recently exhibited Rhubarb and Heather gin at this year’s Country Living Magazine Fairs, Harrogate. The team was led by Debbie and Sandy at stall F27. By midday on day two, the team had completely sold out on the new Gin release and their Gin infused truffles. A great victory celebration to the team.

The company previously produced Barra Atlantic Gin in 2017. The hand-crafted gin was the brand’s first product from the shores of Barra. The gin is distilled with 17 specially selected botanicals, including organically grown carrageen seaweed (Carrageen seaweed provides a bold, maritime flavour, with a mentholic lean and a pinch of salty air). In 2019, Barra Atlantic Gin was shortlisted in the Scottish Gin Awards and became Highly Commended in the Highlands & Islands Food & Drink Awards. The gin also won Silver in the International Wine & Spirit Competition 2020, Gold in The Spirits Business Awards and Silver in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2021.
