Recipe
- 60ml tequila
- 120ml orange juice
- 15ml grenadine
- Garnish: orange slice or maraschino cherry
In a highball glass filled with ice cubes, pour the tequila and orange juice. Stir well. Slowly pour the grenadine around the inside edge of the glass. It will sink and gradually rise to mix with the other ingredients. Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.
History
The Tequila Sunrise was created in the early 1970s by Bobby Lozoff and Billy Rice at the Trident bar in Sausalito, California. The cocktail achieved notoriety after Mick Jagger tasted it at a party to kick off The Rolling Stones’ 1972 tour.
